French Polynesian airmail stamps.

The development of airmail is closely linked to the history of aviation. It also represents a revolution in the history of communication: previously, it took a month for a letter to reach the other side of the Atlantic by boat! Correspondence between two individuals on opposite sides of the Atlantic therefore took two months... The first airmail stamps appeared in Polynesia in 1958.
