Pre-cancelled stamps from Monaco. A pre-cancelled stamp is a postage stamp that has been cancelled before use. Pre-cancelled stamps, or "préos", are intended for large mailings. They save postal workers the tedious task of cancelling the stamps.
It was not until 1943 that the first pre-cancelled stamps appeared in the Principality of Monaco.
The type of cancellation is identical to that used on French stamps.
